Is Dyvo free?
Yes. Logging dives is free and unlimited, permanently — along with the globe, search and filters, trips, all 60 badges, unlimited certification cards, buddy sharing, marine safety warnings on every dive, and full CSV and UDDF export. Dyvo Pro is optional and adds the full conditions forecast, unlimited imports, the complete stats dashboard and a few conveniences. See pricing.
Is there a limit on how many dives I can log?
No, and there never will be. A logbook is a diver’s permanent record — dive counts matter for certifications and for checking in at a shop — so capping it would mean holding your own memories hostage. Dyvo charges for forecasting and analysis, never for the record itself.
Can I import my existing dive log?
Yes, from five sources: a photographed paper logbook, UDDF files (Shearwater Cloud, Subsurface, Diving Log and others), Garmin FIT files from a Descent or fēnix, Apple Watch dives out of Apple Health, and a direct Bluetooth download from a supported dive computer. Every source lands in the same review sheet, where you fix anything a parser misread before it is saved. Your first bulk import is free and uncapped.
Can I get my dives back out of Dyvo?
Any time, free, in two formats. CSV is the complete record of everything you logged. UDDF 3.2 is the interchange format the rest of the diving world reads, and it carries depth profiles. Neither is behind the paywall, deliberately — an export only paying users get is not an escape hatch.
Does scanning a paper logbook send my pages anywhere?
No. Recognition runs entirely on your iPhone using Apple’s Vision framework. The photographs are read on device and never uploaded.
Which dive computers work with Dyvo?
Two routes. Over Bluetooth LE, Dyvo downloads dives directly from computers supported by libdivecomputer, which covers most of the major brands — you pick your model once and it is remembered, because an advertised Bluetooth name identifies a vendor rather than a model. By file, anything that exports UDDF (Shearwater Cloud, Subsurface, Diving Log) or Garmin FIT (Descent, fēnix) imports directly.
Does Dyvo work with the Apple Watch Ultra?
Yes. Dyvo reads underwaterDiving workouts from Apple Health, along with the depth and water-temperature series and the workout route’s surface fix as an entry coordinate. Apple’s Depth app does not record gas, tank, site or buddy, so an imported Watch dive opens prefilled for you to finish.
What is the divability score?
Dyvo’s own 0–100 synthesis of swell height and period, wind, current and rain, shown with an Excellent / Good / Marginal / Poor band. It is calibrated against the call an operator actually makes — would we run today — rather than copied from a provider’s generic sea-state index. More on dive planning →
Where does the tide and current data come from?
NOAA CO-OPS harmonic and current-prediction stations where one is within 40 km — authoritative, and the only source of currents. Beyond NOAA’s coverage, a global station-based source fills in, and modelled tides are the last fallback. Every source is asked for the MLLW datum so a tide height means one thing wherever you are, and each reading is labelled with where it came from.
Are the marine warnings behind the paywall?
No, and they will not be. US National Weather Service marine warnings and advisories fetch on their own uncapped path and appear on every dive for every diver. Safety information is never gated.
Does Dyvo work offline?
Mostly. Logging, the logbook, badges, trips, stats, your certification cards and your buddies’ shared dives all work with no signal — buddy dives and their photos are cached on device. A bundled NOAA ocean temperature almanac answers “how warm is the water here in August” offline and for any date. Only iCloud sync and the live forecast need a connection.
How does buddy sharing work, and who can see my dives?
Only the buddies you have accepted, and only the dives you explicitly toggled to share. Access is enforced by iCloud’s own servers through CloudKit sharing rather than by a filter in the app. You connect by sending a private link — there is deliberately no user search and no handles, so nobody can look you up. Stop sharing a dive, or remove a buddy, and their access ends immediately.
What happens when two of us log the same dive?
You each keep your own record — your own photos, notes, gas and stats — and Dyvo links them, so the dive detail shows every diver’s log side by side under “Also on This Dive.” Copying a buddy’s dive into your logbook links it automatically, and Dyvo suggests same-day dives that were close in place or overlapped in the water. Neither of you ever writes to the other’s logbook.
Does Dyvo track me or show ads?
Neither. There are no ads, no third-party analytics and no data sold or shared with advertisers. Sign in is Apple only. Your dives and photos live in your own iCloud private database. Which devices and languages does Dyvo support?
iPhone on iOS 18 or later, with a Lock Screen dive timer, a home-screen widget and Siri Shortcuts. Dyvo ships in 12 languages: English, German, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), French, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese and Simplified Chinese — using the vocabulary divers actually use in each.
Metric or imperial?
Either, switched whenever you like. Dive data is stored once and converted at the display and input boundary, so changing the setting never rewrites a dive or loses precision.
