Plan a dive with the data a divemaster would use

Add a dive to your logbook with a future date and Dyvo starts watching that site. It reads swell, period, wind, current and rain, folds them into one honest number, and puts the tides, the slack window and any live marine warning beside it — in the dive site’s own timezone.

One number, and everything behind it

A forecast API will tell you a wave is 1.4 m at 7 s. It will not tell you whether to dive. The divability score is Dyvo’s own synthesis, framed the way a diver asks the question.

Divability score, 0–100

Plus an Excellent / Good / Marginal / Poor band. Built from swell height and period, wind, current and rain, and calibrated against the call an operator actually makes — not copied from a provider’s generic index.

Marine warnings above the score

Small-craft advisories, gale, storm and special marine warnings, high surf, rip current and tropical alerts, ranked above everything else on the card. These fetch on their own uncapped path and are free for every diver, on every dive, always.

Nothing is dressed up as certain

Every reading is labelled with where it came from — “NOAA · station name” against “modelled”, and an estimated visibility band marked EST. A number that is a guess says so.

Currents and slack water

The thing serious divers actually plan around, and the thing almost no consumer app surfaces.

From NOAA CO-OPS current-prediction stations: when the water goes slack, which way it is setting at your planned start, and the day’s peak flood and ebb.

Tides at the right datum

The nearest NOAA harmonic station within 40 km, then a global station-based source, then whatever the marine provider modelled — every one of them asked for the MLLW datum, so a tide height means one thing wherever you are.

Daylight, in site-local time

Sunrise, sunset and day length for the site rather than for your phone, and a warning when the start time you picked crowds sunset. A Hawaii dive reads in Hawaii time from anywhere in the world.

A forecast only reaches about seven days out, which is no help at all when you are booking a trip in March for September. Dyvo bundles a NOAA World Ocean Atlas grid, read straight off disk, so it can answer “what is the water usually like here that month” for any date, anywhere, with no signal and no API call.

It is paired with what only your logbook knows: what you actually wore the last time you dived water that temperature. A climatological mean is never written into a dive as though it were a measurement — it is an almanac, not a reading you took.

Any upcoming dive in your logbook wears its divability chip, so you see the forecast turn without opening anything.

A “check back” state

Beyond the forecast window the card says how many days until there is something to show, rather than pretending it has an answer.
